In addition, the International Journal of Cosmetic Sciences published a summary stating that Coptis Japonica root extract and its active ingredient berberine inhibit the accumulation of triglycerides (also known as fat) and the differentiation of subcutaneous preadipocytes (cells that later become fat cells).
